2015 Battle On The River Broadcast A Success!

Albert Dupont, Adviser

On Friday, September 25th the Satellite Center Team Members in ATVB, Digital Media and Interactive Media pulled off our biggest event of the year, the earliest it has ever been. It’s the Battle on the River Game broadcast between Destrehan and Hahnville.  The students produce a 3-camera broadcast with commentators, replay, great graphics, pre-game, halftime and post game shows. We live streamed for nearly 5 hours with minimal issues and minimal involvement from me. Special thanks to a couple of former ATVB Team Members, Scott Tastet and Trevor Arthur who really helped pull it together.

It’s a “student-run, student-led” broadcast. Not perfect, but an AWESOME learning experience provided by St. Charles Parish Public Schools for these future broadcasters, filmmakers or whatever else they decide to do in life. There are a lot of “life skills” you can learn in a live broadcast.

It says a lot for the School District and our Administrator Lasca Anderson to trust these Satellite Center students to pull off this event. As of Sunday Afternoon we over 4,700 views on the YouTube stream and we had over 19,000 page views on the Battle On The River website put together by Brian Gough ‘s Interactive Media Team Members and Rhitt Growl’s Digital Media Team Members. And the stream would not have gotten off the ground without the help of Stephanie Steib’s Team in the District’s ITS Department. It was truly a TEAM experience and awesome to see what these Students and District can do!
