Throughout the months of August and September, the Advanced TV Broadcasting team members have been gaining experience in the roles of sports journalism through various projects. It started with their commentary projects, where they researched and analyzed athletic events in order to provide their best play-by-play and color commentary of it. This project helped team members prepare for the Hahnville and Destrehan football games that they live streamed for the community. They also took part in discussions with their guest speaker, WGNO sports anchor and reporter Richie Mills. He gave them advice on finding stories within sporting events, as well as techniques that help tell those stories.
After researching and working in the ATVB work center, it was time to get experience interacting with people outside of the course in order to tell stories relating to the Battle on the River football game. Each team member was put into a group and tasked with scheduling their interviews, conducting those interviews, writing the script, shooting b-roll, doing voice overs and editing it all together. Their stories were broadcasted before the Battle on the River football game. You can watch it here.
