38 children die every year from being left in hot cars. The highest it has been was in 2018 and 2019 with a total of 29 deaths. This is caused by people being in a rush, or just not paying attention to stuff around them.
United way and the St Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office are running the “Don’t Leave Me Behind” campaign in order to reduce the death rate of kids, toddlers, and newborns dying in hot cars. With help from other organizations and the St. Charles Parish Woman’s Club, United way is trying to reduce the rate of Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or any other care taker from leaving a kid in the car.
