Distracted Driving PSA

Distracted+Driving+PSA

Mark Bourgeois, producer

For the most recent project, everyone got a choice of either a course commercial or a traffic safety PSA. Carson Whitfield and I chose the latter option and decided to make it about distracted driving. The project gave us a lot of creative freedom and broad options as to what we could do. We wanted to follow the general theme of the examples we saw, and perform our own twist on it. The impactful, darker toned, more serious examples were the best to use. At the beginning there was a bit of difficulty when it came to communication. There were several points where we did have to go back to the script to make small changes, but in the end it did work out, and we were able to make a good end product.

The video is centered around a train wreck, and has the setting of an interview, with the surviving victims(Carson) giving his take on what happened that day, and talking about the deceased victim(me). The crash is meant to happen suddenly, with the whole video mainly being buildup to it, and ending with statistics on distracted driving and the final message of “Drive Safely”. The final product came out well, and got its message across very effectively.
