The St. Charles Parish animal shelter received a grant of $61,000 from the ASPCA. The shelter workers are happy to receive this grant to help alleviate the rising transportation costs of animals.

Animal control supervisor, Dr. Jena Troxler, said “the grant is broken into a couple pieces and one is to support two plane flights to get animals out of our shelter and surrounding parishes right before the impact of a disaster.” Dr. Troxler said, “during the pandemic we have definitely had to modify our operations.” The animal shelter has to limit the amount of animals coming in and the amount of people going in to adopt right now.

If you are interested in adopting an animal from the shelter you can contact Dr. Jena Troxlers office at (985)783-5010. The animal shelter is located 921 Deputy Jeff G Watson Drive Luling, LA 70070.
