The project was for us to choose a certain concentration out of sports, weather, a feature story, documentary, or a commercial to create one big newscast like show. The topic I chose was the Destrehan Girls Basketball Team (Sports). I chose this topic because I knew that the team was on their second year with a new coach, so I just wanted to do a follow up and see how things are going and how the players are adjusting to her.

In the process of planning my video, I had to first brainstorm, then create questions and a A/V script. Some challenges that I faced was mainly with finding a good time to go in and get my footage. I had to reschedule my interviews about three times and it was effecting my grade. I overcame that challenge by just being patient and keep communicating with the coach to see when would be the perfect time to film. My final video came out well but some things that I wanted to do, didn’t happen. For example, I wanted to get footage of the team bonding before the games and footage of them having team talks, but overall my video still came out pretty good.

Something that I learned was that its not going to always be easy and somethings might not go as planned, but you just have to go with the flow and change a few plans. Also I learned, while filming an interview, especially sports, its good to have a good background like the basketball court. I would do this concentration over again because I would do the things that I planned on doing but didn’t get to do.
