2019 Lip Dub Reflection

Dominic Marino, singer

I think the Lip Dub came out really well this year. I liked how it was really well organized. A lot of planning went into it and the planning was executed well. It looked like it was practiced because everyone who sang knew their lines and did well with the walkthrough. One thing that could’ve been improved were empty space throughout the video. There were times when we could have had more people in certain places.

I think the video accomplished its purpose of promoting the Satellite Center and Open House. I think it did this because we used songs that everyone knows and each song related to the classes at Satellite Center and made it seem like the Satellite center is the place to be. I think this Lip Dub was better than years past because it seemed very organized. Some years it seemed like not much planning or practice went into the video and it seemed to be all over the place. In some years past, people didn’t know their lines like they were supposed to and it looked like they didn’t know what to do. This year, that was not as much of a problem at all.

The process of the Lip Dub was very laid out and well organized. The process of of brainstorming everything, meeting, planning, and pitching our ideas to Mrs. Anderson was a good idea so we could make the best video possible. Some aspects of the planning I liked were how we broke into different groups since we all had different ideas. also liked how we brainstormed different songs before planning so we could decide on the best songs to use. I liked this because it gave an idea and it broke down what songs we could use so our ideas wouldn’t be so broad. One thing I wish could’ve gone differently was everyone feeling like they worked on Lip Dub together. This is because when one idea gets picked over another, the group that didn’t get picked feels like it wasn’t their Lip Dub. That could be improved by maybe both AM and PM working on an idea together.

For the future, I think the things that should stay the same is the planning and execution. Students should still pitch the ideas to Mrs. Anderson and execute the idea the same way by filming the video with every single class. Some things that could change is do a Lip Dub with both AM and PM. That way there is two Lip Dubs and everyone can feel like they had a big part in the project. Some advice I have for next year’s Team Members is work hard and don’t slack off. If you do, the Lip Dub won’t come out well and your grade may be affected too.
