Ajah’s outside commercial reflection

Ajah Parkman, writer

This project that we have worked on is a project for the parish. There was different types of segments like Festivals and Fairs , Residents, and housing and jobs in St. Charles Parish. We made these segments to attract more tourist and citizens to come and live in st charles parish were there is great schooling, and jobs opportunities for anyone. My group and I began with reaching out to the citizens , and people who work for the parish as well as getting B-roll. Then we scheduled interviews with them to get their input on the parish. Then we formed it into individual segments explaining why people should move here.

As a whole I liked the project. I got a chance to see and listen as well as meet the people who make st charles parish a great place to live. I liked the fact that everyone was honest on how they feel about the parish. I didn’t like that fact that it was hard to reach out and get in touch with some of our clients. During the completion of this project i have learned that not everything goes as planned. Everything you do isn’t going to be perfect, but you have to try your best and put your all into it. Then, you learn from your mistakes. Also, people are going to give you a hard time ,when contacting them ,but that is just the real world.

For the first time working with an outside client was great! I got to listen to them express how they feel about the parish. I also , got to see what they do to make the parish a safe place. My group and I worked collaboratively and efficiently. We took turns recording and interviewing our clients. I was very involved in my project . I had minor errors ,but I met the requirements in a timely manner. By me being involved my group and I were successful getting all the footage that we needed for our project by helping each other out and reaching out to some people who we knew worked for the parish.

My video had B-roll, as well as all the reasons why someone should want to relocate and move to st, charles parish. Our group wasn’t perfect  but we all did try our best to put all the important information and extra b-roll that our client wanted in our segments. There was no best or worst project we don’t down talk anyone’s work. No one’s project was bad nor perfect ,but we all critiqued and gave feedback that was minor that helped us all out in the end. The feedback that we received helped us improve the project. I say this because we were able to add more b-roll and improve each segment. Yes, some group took our advice and ran with it they added more b-roll and adjusted volume , and their mispelling of words.

If I were to do this project over again I wouldn’t do anything differently because the project gives you responsibility. We are capable of handling these types of projects because it prepares us for the business industry.  Mr. Robinson you don’t need to change anything for next year because it teaches responsibility as mentioned before. If I had the chance to come back and speak with students I would say that you need to make sure you handle your business and meet the deadlines. There is no such thing as perfect ,but always make sure you give 110% in everything you do because these projects are for people in the industry that need things made to promote the parish.
