Outside Commercial Journal Reflection-Kristen Medina

Kristen Medina, Editor

The Project was about promoting St.Charles parish and showing people different types of Business that the parish has to offer. The Steps that my group and I had to take was scheduling times and days with the many types of business that we interviewed.

My thoughts on the whole project was it was challenging to do because we were dealing with a real client and we had to make this perfect to meet the clients needs and wants and making sure there were no mistakes. I liked going around the parish and seeing many different business that i never knew about and learning about each business and what they do for the parish. The part that i didn’t like was editing because it was challenging to make sure that it meet the requirements that the client wanted. The things that i learned was if you want to start your own business is you have to go through a lot of steps and making sure you do a lot of research.

Working with an outside client was challenging because you have to make sure you meet their requirements and listening to what they are looking for, and doing it their way. And if they want something specific then you have to do it without arguing with them. My group and i worked really well together, because we got to learn about the parish more and getting to know each outside of school. we really didn’t have a lot of challenges we all got along with each other for the whole thing. I think i did  okay with having to contribute  to the project, the only thing that i would change is having to step up more and asking a lot more questions when came to interviewing people and making that i get out of my shyness when talking to people.

I think my video met the expectations in the end but in the beginning no it didn’t because i need more interviews and a lot more b-roll to make the video better and having to listen to other people’s thoughts and going back and fixing those mistakes and making a better video. I think my groups video was good and it met the expectations on what business are in the parish. What made my video good was that i had a lot of clips that showed different types of business and showing how it promotes the parish. But i don’t think it was better then other peoples videos. Getting feedback from my group helped a lot because it showed me that i need to fix my mistakes that i didn’t see and going back and fixing those mistakes made the video better then it was before. Yes, because there were things that i saw that they didn’t see and gave them advise on what they should do.

If i had to do this project all over again is doing a better job of being involve with doing the interviews and helping my group out with planing for the interviews, but i would make sure that i step up more when came down to doing the project. Next year i think (Mr.Robinson) needs to tell his next year team members ahead of time, so they can plan ahead and have more time to get it done.

If I had the change to come back and tell the next years team members is to make sure you meet the expectations and use your time WISELY!, because you are dealing with a real client.
