Pink Link Vlog

Tayler Tabb, camera, editor

I feel that our group video came out very well, it had a lot of the requirements that the video needed to have. We also chose a concept that a lot of people would already know and it is easier for them to understand what was going on. During the process of making this video, I helped with filming, making the graphics used during filming, and editing the video together. For the  graphics, I made the scoreboard and the timer used during the Family Feud scenes. Also I helped balance all of the audio and find sound effects from real Family Feud episodes. I think that my group did a good job of establishing the purpose of pink links. By saying that the winners would get $20,000, it is similar to the amount of money we have raised in past years. Also we gave facts of how breast cancer affects people and how buying pink links can help someone who has cancer. Our call to action at the end gave all the details needed for people to donate in multiple places and how they can watch the results. At first, we butted heads a little and could not agree on the things we wanted to do. As the filming process went on, we began to work together and were able to create an overall good product/video. We were able to bounce ideas off of each other and help each other with our parts of the video. It was a little stressful at first working with people who did not necessarily understand the different things that we have to do in order to make a successful video, but after talking with them, it got easier. They had some good ideas and we were able to combine it with an idea we had, making it a real collaboration. The most challenging part was the time restraint we had to complete the video. We had to film in multiple locations and two of our days were canceled due to a “storm” requiring us to stay home from school. Also having to film over multiple days with some people not being there and having to film the camera shots around that. My favorite part of the project was that it was like working in a real world situation. Having a client, deadline, and obstacles that had to be worked around. I feel that it will help a lot if I chose to do this as a career.  If I could do anything differently, I would make the family that was in the hospital room be the family that was playing family feud. The person with breast cancer would be answering the questions and her family would be behind her, supporting her. I think it would have made more sense rather than having a completely different group of people. My advice for future team members would be to be creative with your videos, think outside the box. Plan everything out exactly how you would like it so there is no questions while filming. Make sure that all audio is working so there is no need to do any voice overs. Take the same scene and shoot it from multiple angles so you can cut back and forth. The most important thing would be to have fun with the video and do not overthink it.
