A Woman’s Image – Documentary
March 23, 2018
BOUTTE: For the third quarter, I created a documentary that was inspired by International Women’s Day, which was celebrated this month. My vision was to create a raw video of girls my age to talk about their struggles in the past with their self esteem, and then building up to the confidence they have now. Being one of my hardest videos to put together, there was a lot of editing work that was required and I learned to persevere by tackling each obstacle that came my way. I am beyond proud of these girls for sharing their personal stories and helping others with their encouragements and advice. Each one of them is beautiful in their own way and my goal was to provide a sense of diversity, so that all girls can relate to each one of them. I feel like I achieved my goal, which was sending an overall message that all of us go through the same struggles with ourselves and that no one is perfect. I also wanted to spread awareness on suicide, binge eating and depression by creating a message so that people can understand how having a negative perspective of one’s self can be detrimental.
