Press Play News: Quarter 1

Jordan-Kay Gros

LULING, LA- This is our first newscast of the semester. It consists many different segments: news, weather, sports, short films, and commercials. My group was in charge of writing and producing a short film named “Mistaken.” We completed it within a day and that night.

My peers said that we did a really good job of matching the sound effects with the video that is being shown. We apparently  had good actors according to someone. Our audio was spot on, not too low, or not too loud. Many people said that we had good camera shots. I do agree that we had goos shots because we thought them out to make them the best they could have been. I believe that our audio could have been lowered in some spots, especially some of the sound effects.

Some people said that we could have added words in the beginning, but this was mainly a silent film, so it would not have made sense to do that in my opinion. Our video quality was not that good at all so I completely agree with that comment. We were aware of that when we started editing but there was nothing we could do to make it better; re shooting everything was out of the question.  I believe that all shots were necessary to our short film and its purpose.

My number one thing that I learned this quarter is ti make sure that the camera settings are correct for the environment you are working with. We had a few issues with our camera and our video quality could have came out better if we would have payed attention to certain things. I fI could start it over again, I would re plan the filming days because it was hard working in the muddy slop.
