Press Play News: Quarter 1

LULING, LA- This was out classes first newscast. It included news, weather, sports features, short films, music videos, and commercials. For this newscast, my group and I created a short film called “Mistaken.” It is about a group of friends that go on a camping trip to a camp sight that someone once disappeared from. One of the people in the friend group goes missing and it ends with the rest of the group trying to find him.

Some positive things that our peers said about our film was that our shots were very good and the storyline was interesting. I agree with them to some extent. I believe if we had more time and opportunity, the film would have been better developed, but I am proud of how it came out nonetheless.

Some negative things that some of our peers said was that the film quality was low and grainy and the sound effects were too loud. I completely agree with them. We had the wrong settings on the camera that we used and did not realize until it was too late. Also the sound effects were artificially put in and they were too loud. It shouldn’t be that loud unless the camera was very close to the car.

The number one thing I learned this quarter was how to pick and choose what you want to do in the group and, not necessarily stick to it, but know that you are responsible for it. I loved making a trailer for our short film however I still helped with editing the film overall. It’s all a balancing act, juggling all the parts at once.
