Press Play News: Quarter 1

Talia Ward

LULING, LA- For the first quarter I did weather. For the weather segment I had to be a meteorologist and I had to come up with a weather story. For my segment I did my story on the Snow in Louisiana. The story was about how they make the decision to close schools and if we have extra days build into the school days. The other part of my segment I had to change everything up cause things happened. So I just did my weather report outside and did voice overs to my video.

Some of the things my peers said I did positively are that I included a lot of information in my video. I agree with that because I did I had to ask Stevie a lot of things to actually know the information. They also said I did a good job improvising. I agree because at the last minute the studio was being taken over and I had to think of what I needed to do last minute. So I truly agree with that. Another positive thing they said I did was my voiceover were good, how my interview was perfectly framed, and how my voiceover were good leading into the interview.

Some of the things my peers said I did negatively was talking too fast. I honestly don’t know how to fix that. I naturally talk fast. I’ve talked fast all my life. It’s either talk really slow and get aggravated because i’m trying to hard. So i’d rather talk normal because that’s how I talk.

I learned that I can actually do things I thought I couldn’t and that I learned that I could improvise on things. If I could do this whole project over I would get everything faster. I didn’t like that I was outside for my weather report so I knew I should’ve done things faster. I would also would’ve done my graphics a little different and I would’ve added lower thirds to my video.
