Bike Paths News Story

LULING,LA- THANKS, There will be an open meeting on February 6 to discuss making bike paths all around the parish that are similar to the ones that are located on Ormond Blvd in Destrehan.

St. Charles Parish Public Information Officer, Tristan Babin says, “So actually right now what this parish is doing is going to its’ residence to compile a pedestrian and bicycle master plan, and so what that plan is….basically across the parish finding out what paths are needed in the parish. So, we’re not actually doing any construction. It’s more or less questions from the public, gathering input, then compiling a plan after that.”

Barton and Paul Mallard in Luling are two of the locations being discussed along with many others on both sides of the river.

“They certainly are safer. It keeps bikes off of the road, and I know that’s one major benefit. It also increases wellness in the community.”

The residence that we spoke to who live on Ormond Blvd were in favor of the new bike paths installations.

“I think it’s great, and in this day of health consciousness, people need to be more healthy. And that this will help people move and be more active. I think this will promote a healthier parish and healthier people so I’m excited about it.”
