Korbin Bryan 2018 Lip Dub Journal

Korbin Bryan, Camera Operator

After watching the Final Lip Dub video, what are you final thoughts on how the video came out? I Think it came out pretty good, definitely better than last years. What are some things that you liked about it? I Liked the transition from AM to PM, the beginning, and the pathways graphics at the end. What are some things that needed to be improved (and how could we have improved them)? The camera could have been kept in better focus, white balance, etc. Also, AM sat center could’ve kept a higher energy. Neither of those can be fixed at this point.

Do you think we accomplished our goal of making a video that appropriately promotes the Satellite Center?Yes, we showed each class displaying an aspect of  what they do in their workplace. Did we avoid the same mistakes that other groups had in past years? I’d say we avoided some, but not all. Camera work and camera settings were still a little shotty. However, we did manage to make it more realistic, yet more creative than the past couple years.

What was the biggest challenge we faced throughout the course of the project? The biggest challenge was coordinating the entire sat center in order to record it all in one seem-less take. Do you think we overcame that challenge or were the issues reflected in the video? By the final take, I think we overcame that challenge and even though it wasnt perfect, it still flowed. What is your #1 takeaway from this project? Steadi-cam is stupid.

When planning this project again in the future, what should I do differently? Practice steadi-cam(if I knew I was gonna be camera-man this time), and and make sure the camera is getting good video quality. What advice do you have for the next group that comes along to complete this video? Plan, practice, and plan again.
