Lip Dub Journal

Bracey Darensbourg

LULING,LA-

After watching the final Lip Dub, I think that it came out really well. It showed all aspects of the satellite center. It showed how we work and how we still have fun while working, which was one of the objectives when planning. I really enjoyed watching the video and there is nothing that I feel needs to change. Everything flowed well together, from the song choice all the way down to the transitions.

Comparing our video to older videos, we really promoted what the Satellite Center is about. The video even showed how the Satellite Center operates. While promoting the satellite center’s purpose and objectives, there many mistakes and problems that we avoided that were weak spots for the past productions. For instance, one of the major weak spots in past productions was to find a way to portray what Satellite Center really does. In our production, we made sure to show the viewer what the Satellite Center truly is. We did this by planning the video all the way through. There were no empty spaces in the script.

Even though the video went really well, there were a few challenges that we came across. One of the problems was other team members did not understand the complete purpose of the Lip Dub. A lot of the other team members assumed that the Lip Dub was just a music video that was created for fun. But we overcame this challenge. We made sure that each team member understood that the purpose of this was to advertise the Satellite Center and it could not be this big party that showed what the Satellite Center is not. One thing that I took away from this project, is communication is everything. Without communication, nothing gets done. Communication is key. In order for a production to go well, communication is needed. No one can just assume things.

If I had any advice for the group coming behind me, it would be to be focused. If one is not focused and not aware of what is going on, then they will be lost in the production. Plus there is no time to catch up, everyone has to be ready to roll. But other than that, there is no other advice that I have.
