Lip Dub Journal

Of the Lip Dub videos that we watched in class, the best video was the first video that has ever been done for the Satellite Center. It was creative, colorful, upbeat, and well planned. Each person knew what they were supposed to be doing and knew the lyrics that they were assigned. Also in the first one, there wasn’t just one person leading each class solely. It wasn’t just one person leading us around the center. All of the people filled the hallways and looked like they were having fun.

What made the bad videos bad was that some of them were very rushed. They did not spend enough time in some areas and spent too much time in others. Also song selection is very important. The song has to be upbeat otherwise its very hard to get excited to. What I would have done to make the videos better is planning just a bit more, tilting the camera up just a little bit more so that nobody’s head is cut off, and not have one person sing for each class. For instance, if each class had a verse and each verse had a few lines, each person would be assigned a line so that there’s more people singing and it seems more inviting.

What should be included that was included in previous years is having one long continuous shot throughout the Satellite Center. It makes the center look larger than it really is. Also a smooth transition with a poster board to link the AM classes and PM classes. We definitely should not have different songs for each class and honestly, not so much mardi gras attire.

I am most interested in editing the video together and matching up the audio and transitions in the post production process. I am always interested in editing because I have to work with what I am given and I won’t be blamed if a part of the filming or planning is off or messed up.
