Arc of St. Charles PSA Journal Reflection

Mikayla Noto

LULING, LA- My group and I had to create the overall PSA for the Arc. We had to create a commercial that explained what the Arc was and the opportunities it allows others to have. First we each researched about the Arc and learned everything we could. Next, we met with our clients to see what requirements they wanted in the commercial. Then, we toured each facility to get ideas and to see what we were working with. Finally, we created a script for our interviews. We then filmed at the Arc’s headquarters. Then we went to an individual’s home and interviewed them. We gathered footage from all of the other groups and then organized it. We edited video footage. We put in different graphics from digital media. We added in lower thirds and full screen that was created by Jordan.

The project as a whole was interesting for me personally. I gained lots of knowledge on the Arc that I did not have before. I liked how we got to talk to the individuals and interview them. The only thing that I did not like was the communication my group and I had trouble getting in touch with Kelsey. We also had miss communication and our interviews had to get rescheduled. I learned that I could volunteer at the Arc in which I would like to do in the future. I also learned about my community and the helpful and caring people who do live in St. Charles Parish.

Working with an outside client was difficult at times ,but overall I enjoyed it. For the most part my group and I worked well with each other. Towards the end it was difficult because we started editing our video and each one of us also had different jobs to get done outside of our project. For example I edited On The Prowl for two class periods. I was involved in the pre-production and production parts of the video. I wish I could have been more involved in the editing progress. I did give my opinion on what could have been fixed ,but thats about all.

My video came out very similar to what my expectations were. I knew what my group and I were capable as a whole. I think our videos did come out better than others since we had more information and explained throughly. The others groups did not really give much feedback on our video. The other groups did not listen to our feed back there videos audio is still too loud

If I were doing this project again I would like to have all of our attention just to this project. It was hard to work with our groups when we each had different things to get done outside of the project. I think you (Mr. Robinson) can let them focus on just one project at a time. I would tell them to focus and listen to the advice Mr. Robinson gives. For example, “Say bear see bear” made our video so much better when we listened and used his advice.
