Arc of St. Charles Reflection

LULING, LA- The Arc of St. Charles came to us about making commercials for their different enterprises. We did our research ahead of time about the Arc so that we could be informed about all of the different businesses that they offered. My group was assigned to do the Cajun Touch Cleaning Crew.

My thoughts on this project as a whole is that it came out really well. Our commercial was focused on the main topic, which was the Cleaning Crew and all the things that they do for the community. i liked the fact that we got to travel with the Cleaning Crew and get actual footage of them working. Somethings that I didn’t like about this project is that we could not keep up with the Cleaning Crew when they switch from one location to the next. I also did not like the fact that we did not get a chance to use the Go-Pro camera because we would have been able to get some very unique shots.

Working with an outside client for the very first time was very challenging. We were not able to just walk down the hall and ask them whenever we needed something answered. It was also challenging due to the fact that we had to communicate through email and wait for a reply because we did not always get a response as quickly as we needed to. My group worked extremely well together. We got things done in a timely fashion, and we were able to communicate without bickering. I think that I contributed a great amount to my group’s work. I was the Director which meant that I was in charge of making sure that everything went smoothly, and that we were able to get the job done with a limited amount of issues. Not only did I Direct, I also helped put together the one minute commercial for the Cajun Touch Cleaning Crew.

When we first started this project, I was expecting my video to be horrible. However, my group actually did a great job, and the videos came out looking very nice. My group’s video was better than some of the other videos because we actually had good footage in our videos, and we put in a lot more time and effort than some of the other groups. The feedback that we received from the other groups had a very positive impact on our project. They were able to catch little things in our videos that we did not notice . They also pointed out some things that we needed to change or edit. I can tell that the other groups listened to the feedback that we provided because majority of the things that we told them to improve were things that they did not catch when they were creating their videos.

The only thing that I would do differently when it comes to this project is get footage using the Go-Pro camera and make sure that we did not have so much noise in the background while filming our interviews with the workers. If I had the chance to come back and speak to students at the beginning of this project I would tell them to make sure that they get as much good footage as possible because if not, then their video will not be of quality. I would also tell them to make sure that they actually put in 100% when doing this project. I would tell them this because if the client is not impressed with the final product, then it will result in them losing business and getting a bad grade as well.
