Pink Links 2017

Ashley Deshotel, Camera Operator and Editor

LULING, LA- My group and I made a video in order to sell pink links to raise money for breast cancer research. Our video was a combination of different music videos where the lyrics were changed in order to show the competition between Destrehan High School and Hahnville High School to raise the most money.

I feel our video came out really well. When making a video, you watch it so much while editing that you just point out every little thing that’s wrong. I was camera operator and editor of the video. I think we did a really good job of encouraging people to buy pink links because our video is really about Destrehan and Hahnville being rivals and buying pink links to beat each other, but they come together at the end just like we combine the money at the end. My group and I worked together really well and got a lot of work done. It was very challenging and frustrating to work with people that don’t share the same insights or views as me or the production team. We know what will work and how it can be edited, while those not a part of the production team blindly just say what they want. It was beneficial, though, because it challenged us in new ways. The most challenging part of the project was matching up the audio, video, and background music. You have to line things up perfectly and if one thing’s off, it looks bad. Though it was challenging and time consuming, editing was my favorite part of the project. I really enjoyed this project and our video because not only did it challenge me and my team members, but it also had us come together as a team and realize that we’re all in this together.
