Larry Davis, Camera / Editor

LULING, LA – “On The Prowl” Week 5 went swimmingly well in my opinion. The anchor, Brandon “BT” Thomas, seemed excited throughout the entire interview. He did a great job of flowing from one question to the next during the interview, and it was almost as if we filmed a live conversation between two lifelong friends. The camera switching was great, and the director, Gabrielle Wood, did a good job of catching great angles of the talents so that the editor just had to put the pieces together. Along with the director doing her job, the video engineer, Kaycee Joseph, did a great job with the cues for the highlights. The camera work could’ve been a little better, for example, the two shot that we do when the camera starts off pointed toward the ceiling and comes back down is typically a shaky shot. I think we should’ve practiced that one shot a few times before we film “On The Prowl.” Another camera shot that should’ve been a lot better was the medium shot of Coach Salt. Coach Salt wasn’t centered, he was on a third (kind of) and it definitely took away from the importance of the shot because of all the background. Those two shots were definitely fixable mistakes I noticed. The mic audio levels were great, and this was the work of our sound technician, Chris “Chip” Brand. The only thing I would suggest is that you lower the music volume during the highlights so we can hear the coach clearly. However, the editor, Larry “King” Davis, did an awesome job sculpting this video and giving the audience the greatest screen quality he could provide. Job well done team!
