Battle on the River – Debrief

Sage Blackledge

LULING, LA – Our broadcast for Battle on the River went very well, especially compared to the other ones we saw from past years. I think watching the previous ones helped us have points to know so we could do our jobs well. This week, even though I actually did a new job for this game, I went in with a good idea of how to do my job well rather than being completely clueless or only having a general knowledge of how to operate the parabolic microphone. In my personal opinion, this being a rivalry game just made it more exciting to broadcast, as the fans were more passionate, and it was much easier to catch real action. However, I am also not a big football fan, so I don’t have much predisposition for these games. I did put a focus on getting audio from both sides so I wouldn’t seem biased. It was a fun experience, and I’m glad I worked this locally popular game.
