Friday, September 15th at Destrehan high school, the Destrehan Wildcats defeated the John Ehret Patriots with a score of 44-25. The Wildcats fell behind 13-0 in the first quarter, before scoring 31 unanswered points and taking home the victory. This was a major victory for Destrehan football, in the wake of last week’s loss to St.Charles Catholic which marked the end of their 5 year regular season win streak. The Wildcat’s record is now 2-1.

The Destrehan offense finished  with 340 total yards, 191 rushing and 149 passing. 184 of those rushing yards belong to senior running-back John Emery, along with two touchdowns. Junior quarter-back JR Blood is responsible for the passing yards, connecting with Carson Rieder and Quinton Torbor for a total of 3 touchdowns.

The Patriots ended the game with 396 yards, of which 318 came from senior quarterback Travis Mumphry. Mumphry threw for 217 yards and rushed for 101 yards. He completed 4 touchdown passes to 3 receivers (Jamall Houston, Rashawn Jones and two to Lorinzo Pinn).

These players are definitely ones to watch in this week’s upcoming games. Both JR Blood and John Emery are sure to be contenders Friday night against Hahnville High School at the Battle on the River (9/22/17) , and Travis Mumphry is hoping to lead his team to victory this Friday night against the West Jefferson Buccaneers (9/22/17).

The Battle on the River will be broadcasted live starting at 6pm Friday night on Presstheplay.tv
