Pink Links

Ashley Deshotel, Editor

DESTREHAN, LA- When making videos, it is important to remember the purpose of the video, whether it is to inform, entertain, or convey a message. Things that make commercials and PSAs effective is knowing the audience. If I am targeting teenagers, I would use something teenagers relate to-referencing a popular movie or book. It would be very ineffective to make a video for children about the struggle of an adult. This is not the proper audience. Also, it is very useful to pay attention to the length of the video. Short and sweet is good to get just the right amount of information out. If the video is long and drags out without reason, it bores the viewer and no one will want to watch the video again or even continue watching it the first time. The Advanced Television Broadcasting class and I will be producing many videos over the next month or so from the Health Career Exploration and Patient Care’s Pink Link videos to the Haunted History Hike Tours promos and it is very important to stay on topic. For example, for the pink link videos, it would not be very effective to talk about how much education each country receives. These two topics have nothing in common, therefore, they will not achieve the same goal. For the pink links, I would talk about the effects of breast cancer and the rate at which it spreads and center my video with the purpose of selling pink links and nothing else. Having the correct information is also very important for any and all videos. Just remember to stay on topic, know your audience and relate to them, and pay attention to the length of the videos.
