Destrehan is now the only unbeaten River Parish team following Friday’s 47-21 victory over the Terrebonne Tigers in District 7-5A play in Houma.

The Wildcats improved to 5-0 overall, 2-0 in district. While the Tigers fell to 2-3 overall, 0-2 in district.

Destrehan got off to a fast start by racking up 20 first quarter points. Kohen Granier connected with John Williams for a 28 yard for a 7-0 lead on their opening possession of the game. Granier later hit Colby Duhon for a 7-yard score and took a 14-0 lead.

It was now time for the Wildcats’ special teams to get to work. A snap went of the head of Terrebonne punter Brett Bergeron, Kendall Anderson picked up the ball and raced for a touchdown. Getting off to a fast start has become established for the Wildcats as they led 20-0 at the end of the first quarter.

DHS THS1Grainer and the Wildcat passing game didn’t slow down in the second quarter. With four minutes to go before halftime, a 33-yard pass from the Destrehan quarterback to Michael Young extended the lead.

Just when it appeared to be the end of the Wildcats’ scoring domination, a fumble by Terrebonne’s Blake Verrett in the final 30 seconds of the half set up a 28-yard touchdown catch by Tramaine Armstrong to give Destrehan a commanding 33-0 lead into half-time.

Kristian Mosely and Will Sirmon both added long scoring runs in the second half to round of the Wildcats’ scoring.

All of Terrebonne’s points came in the second half. Touchdown runs by Joseph Alvis and a 9-yard pass form quarterback Mason Turner to Brennon Guidry.

Kohen Granier tossed four touchdown passes for the second consecutive week. Destrehan’s fast start ruined Terrebonne’s homecoming.

Destrehan will host district foe, East St. John this Friday at Wildcat Stadium at 7 o’clock. If you are unable to attend this game, Press Play Productions will be broadcasting this game live on this website.
